Family Assistance Fund
Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation (NNCCF) assists families with everyday costs such as household living expenses, mortgage payments, rent, food, utilities, travel expenses related to treatment, medical expenses, insurance deductibles, uncovered procedures and additional expenses the family might need assistance with during a child’s treatment.
We focus on children who are less than 19 years old and who are currently in treatment for or are in follow-up care for cancer in the northern Nevada and eastern Sierra region. This region includes Lake Tahoe, Truckee, Quincy and Susanville, California. Our southern service border is Tonopah, Nevada.
All applications must be received prior to the child’s 21st birthday, but if medical treatment is ongoing NNCCF may continue to assist families until the child is 23 years old.
Family Care Package
When a family is referred to NNCCF, a personalized family care package is immediately created with each family’s needs in mind. Catered upon specific need, packages include things like a gas card, grocery card, books about childhood cancer, a gift for the patient, gift(s) for the patients sibling(s) and anything else that might apply.
Entering into treatment means lots of long hours spent in hospitals. We provide our children with a fleece snuggle blanket and fleece snuggle buddy, each are made especially for the child with love by NNCCF volunteers. Patients can love on their snuggle blankets and buddies and feel comforted knowing they were made especially for them. These items usually become a part of the child’s life, accompanying them to treatments, scans, appointments, and overnight stays.
