Know the Gold

The gold ribbon is the nationally recognized symbol of childhood cancer. Why? Because children are more precious than gold! September is also nationally recognized as “Childhood Cancer Awareness Month."

In an effort to spread awareness and ignite advocacy, Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation kicks off our annual Know the Gold campaign on September 1st. We encourage local businesses, individuals and schools to join together in support of children in northern Nevada battling cancer by raising funds and awareness.

This is an excellent opportunity to show your community and customers how much you care and support causes close to home!

The Know the Gold campaign will wrap up on January 31, 2014 with a pledge drive at Scheels in Sparks, NV.

St. Baldrick’s Brave the Shave

NNCCF_BravetheShave The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers. It was founded on March 17, 2000, when three insurance executives transformed their industry’s St. Patrick’s Day party into a head-shaving event to benefit youth with cancer.

Part of NNCCF’s mission is to advocate for increased research funds with hopes one day our kids will be cancer free. Our annual St. Baldrick’s events in Reno have raised more than $1.2 million since 2006 combined with South Lake Tahoe since 2012. We have shaved more than 1,800 heads! Each year around St. Patrick’s Day we ask the community to “brave the shave” and go bald in support of childhood cancer research. Potential participants have a choice, but children with cancer don’t.

Tournament of Hope

The 10th Annual Tournament of Hope will be held on September 22, 2014. This annual golf tournament always brings a great turnout. Hosting this event at the beautiful Montreux Golf and Country Club is a true blessing.

These contributions go far in aiding our organization’s cause. We love being able to get our community involved in impacting the lives of children with cancer and their families.

Registration for this event will open May 16, 2014
